《詩經·周南·關雎》

關關雎鳩在河之洲窈窕淑女君子好逑

The ospreys call to one another on the river islet. The graceful young woman is a fitting companion for the noble man.

雎鳩在河洲上相互和鳴；端莊美好的女子，是君子的良伴。

川の中洲でミサゴが鳴き交わす。たおやかな女性は、君子のよき伴侶である。

The opening of the Book of Songs places human longing within a living landscape. Affection is not isolated from conduct: desire seeks a relationship worthy of care, patience, and mutual regard.

《詩經》的開篇把人的情感放進有聲有景的自然之中。愛慕並未與品行分開，而是指向一段值得珍惜、等待與彼此敬重的關係。

人の思いを自然の響きの中に置き、愛情を敬意と忍耐に結びつける『詩経』冒頭の一節です。

《詩經·衛風·木瓜》

投我以木桃報之以瓊瑤

You give me a peach; I return a precious jade.

你贈我木桃，我以美玉回報。

あなたが木桃を贈るなら、私は美しい玉で応えよう。

Reciprocity is measured here by the heart rather than equal price. A small gesture sincerely received can awaken a response larger than itself and deepen the bond between people.

此處的回報不以等價衡量，而以心意衡量。真誠接住一份小小的善意，常會喚起更深的回應，也使人與人的連結逐漸厚實。

返礼を値段ではなく心で量ります。小さな善意を丁寧に受け取ることが、より深い応答を生みます。

《詩經·小雅·鶴鳴》

他山之石可以攻玉

Stones from another mountain can be used to polish jade.

別座山上的石頭，也能用來琢磨美玉。

他の山の石も、玉を磨くために使うことができる。

What is foreign to our habits can refine what is valuable within us. Another person, discipline, or disagreement may become the abrasive through which understanding gains clarity and form.

與自身習慣不同的事物，也能磨亮內在珍貴之處。另一個人、另一門學問，甚至一場分歧，都可能成為使理解更清楚、更成形的砥石。

異なる人や学び、時には反対意見さえ、自分の理解を磨く砥石になり得ます。

靡不有初鮮克有終

There is no one without a beginning; few are able to carry it through to the end.

事情沒有不曾開始的，卻很少有人能堅持到底。

始めのないものはないが、最後まで全うできる者は少ない。

Beginnings often borrow energy from novelty, while completion depends on steadier virtues. The line asks whether intention can survive repetition, difficulty, and the absence of applause.

開始常從新鮮感借來力量，完成則需要更安定的品格。此句所問的是：當反覆、困難與無人喝采的時刻到來，最初的心意能否仍被守住。

新しさが薄れた後も、最初の志を守れるか。完成には始まりとは別の強さが必要です。
